What is Retexturing?
Retexturing is the reworking of the original surface to restore
skidding resisitance, texture depth or both.
What is Bush Hammering?
The method of retexturing offered by the group of companies
working with Klaruw Systems is referred to as Bush Hammering
or K190 Retexturing. This controlled process involves using
tungsten carbide tips mounted on pneumatic bush hammers.
Where can K190 Retexturing be used?
All sound surface, which contain naturally occuring aggregate can be
retextured to restore skidding resistance. Supporting documentation
can be found in: DMRB Vol.7 Section % Chapter 11 Part 2 HD 37/99.
Why should K190 Retexturing be used?
Klaruw K190 Retexturing reduces wet skid crashes and associated
casualties (Crashes switch off - ref Hertfordshire study). Retexturing
resolves skidding problems quickly with minimum traffic disruption.
How long will it last?
Klaruw Systems K190 Retexturing will restore skid resistance back
to day one conditions. As with any new surface, polishing of aggregate
will occur depending on PSV of aggregate, volumes of heavy traffic,
type of site and the extent to which weathering contributes towards skid
resistance.
